Remember my brilliant New Year’s Day Guest Star— Haute Couture Fashion Photographer– Benjamin Kanarek? He has a hot new layout for VOGUE Brazil — just out this month! His art is stunningly simple with a cataclysmic shift. I adore his vision, courage, clarity, reality, fantasy…
…and especially how fabulous I look in these pictures! The make-up is a little aging but–
Benjamin Kanarek: (interrupting) Whoa! Hold on there, Nixon, that’s not you! It’s Pernille Moeller, the Danish SUPERMODEL.
HDYGT: (frozen smile) Who’s to say, anyway, under all the wigs and make-up? Does it really matter?
Benjamin Kanarek: (gritting teeth) YES.
HDYGT: Oh all right! Just don’t tell my Mom. I said I couldn’t come for dinner because I was in Siberia.
(Many thanks to Benjamin Kanarek for allowing me to post the following from his blog!)
VOGUE Brasil Beauty
In the Steppes of Ulan Bator
At the crossroads of Manchuria and Siberia, in the grassy fields of Mongolia, in the “Khavriin Khavsraga” the wind chill of spring reddens the faces of the nomadic shepherds living in their yurts.
Rosy cheekbones and noses, the look of lips cracked from the cold. A powdery foundation from the dusty steppes, wild-flower nails, folk hats, head pieces, rustic jewellery and magnificent colourful tops.
Here we are, with Pernille, in Genghis Khan’s Kingdom, in the Steppes of Ulan Bator… Out now in the June Issue of VOGUE Brasil.

Those pictures are absolutely stunning!

Aren’t they, Olive? There’s something so unique about them – child like, fantastical, yet dramatically different.

I love the colours….there’s a great contrast between the vibrant and the dull!

That’s what draws me in, too. It’s both unreal and uber-real, don’t you think? I have no experience in photography, so don’t have a clue how to verbalize it. But am blown away by Benjamin Kanarek’s work. He always surprises, never static.
Be sure you check out the “Making of it” video on his site!!
